Baby Talk
May 2012
The first word in advertising and PR from Design At Work.

Baby, Ride Easy.

When you buy a car, you're usually drawn to the features — the number of cup holders, anti-lock brakes and size of the engine. But deep down, what you're really looking for is a car that will prevent your morning coffee from spilling while you quickly maneuver out of that tight spot on the freeway.

In reality, you're buying the car for the advantages it provides to you personally, not its broad characteristics.

So how does this idea translate into advertising?
It's the difference between promoting the features versus the benefits. In fact, those features mean nothing without the benefits. The car might have four extra airbags, but what does that actually mean? It means you and your passengers can feel safe and secure in your vehicle — and that's exactly the type of benefit customers want to hear.

Clients want to know how your product or service will positively influence their lives. They want to know what's in it for them. How do you shift gears from talking about generic features to the benefits they represent? You do so by knowing your ideal customer, considering their pains and then revving up how the features of your product or service can address their needs.
Baby Genius
We've said it before, and we'll say it again — we have the formula for your success. Here's an example of how we helped a baby go from crawling to running in no time.

Nicha's Comida Mexicana, a Mexican restaurant and San Antonio tradition, launched its new branding campaign, 'Taste the Tradition,' which speaks to their longstanding roots in the community and dedication to serving customers authentic Mexican food.

With an updated image, Nicha's ran a special promotion to attract attention to their new look and encourage current and new customers to sign up for their eNewsletter. Within just three months, the restaurant went from zero to more than 5,000 emails. Through their growing email list, Nicha's has been able to increase customer awareness about current specials, the history of the restaurant, their community involvement and ongoing events at both locations. They were also able to better reach their strong following at their South San Antonio location, as well as expand their customer base at their North San Antonio location.
