The Write Stuff: Copywriting Key to Courting Your Customers It can be the last thing you notice--or the first. It can make a campaign--or break it. It can drive your message--or steer it off a cliff. That's copywriting for you. And while it may be a rollercoaster ride trying to perfect a message for your business, copywriting can (and will) bring your brand full circle. Basically, copywriting is the key to backing up what you're 'putting down.' But what happens when a message is off its mark? Well, it's like that girl (or guy) you see at the bar. They're attractive, well dressed and quite 'the dish.' Then they open their mouth, and nothing of substance comes out. It's disappointing, to say the least. The same thing happens when a could-be customer is drawn to your brand, only to be met with a message lacking in excitement, polish and style. We call that a copywriting FAIL. That's where the experts come in (i.e., Design At Work). We have some truly talented people who know what it takes to make your message clear, concise and hit your target audience. And while copywriting may seem pretty simple to some, there's definitely a lot more to it than just typing up a few sentences on a computer screen. Here are a few of our tried and true techniques to copywriting brilliance. Get your goal on. Define your message and give it that good ol' 'call to action.' Don't muck it up with a bunch of jibber jabber. Get to the point, and pronto! Have a big head. A great headline can change your business overnight. It can grab that customer by the ears and say 'Look at me! Look at me!'Start a conversation. With your keyboard. Face it, people don't want to use their brain. They want to be entertained, intrigued and persuaded. So, just write like people talk--it's that simple. Text with benefits. People want to know what's in it for them. Your message should express how your product or service will positively impact a customer's life. Not the other way around.
