Design At Work - Baby Talk - The first word in advertising and PR from Design At Work. www.designatwork.com July 2010
Kick Your Heels Up and SHOUT! They say image is everything. Now, wai-a-ait a minute! Isn't that superficial? It may be in some cases, but when it comes to public relations (PR)--it's absolutely true. In today's 'dot com' community, it's as easy as 'w-w-w' for an interested individual to get the scoop on just about anyone and anything. So, as more and more potential clients begin to 'Google' your company, good PR becomes crucial. You know your employees are talented, your office is awesome and your company is charitable, but do I? The answer is...probably not--especially if you haven't told me or my friend, the World Wide Web. That's where PR comes in. At Design At Work, we like to cite the classics--or a sugar packet John, our president, once read in a Chinese restaurant. It said: 'he who has a thing to sell and goes and whispers in a well, is not as apt to get the dollars as he who climbs a tree and hollers.' In other words, if you've got good news about your company, you've got to jump up and shout! And, by the way, that 'tree' that you're shouting from can come in many forms. It's important to make the public aware of your company's news. Here are some happenings your company can shout about: *A new product or service * An addition to your client roster * A new or promoted employee * A charity event you sponsored or helped by volunteering So, take a step back and look at what your business is doing. Throw those hands up and shout! You know you've got a good thing going, so come on...a little bit louder now!
